States That Have Legalized Psychedelic Mushrooms

Like marijuana, the psilocybin is classified as a Schedule I type of drug. However, three years ago, researchers have requested that psychedelic mushrooms should be included in the Schedule IV drug, i.e. substances that have a medical purpose. According to the experts, magic mushrooms can help treat anxiety, depression and substance abuse disorders. Psilocybin, the active ingredient in psychedelic mushrooms which is responsible for the “trip”, binds with serotonin in the brain, which affects cognition, perception, imagination and general mood.

At this moment, magic mushrooms are considered to be legal in countries like Samoa, Brazil, Bulgaria, Netherlands, and Jamaica.

Last year, Oregon was the first state to legalize psilocybin, the active ingredient in magic mushrooms. Oregon has legalized the use of psychedelic mushrooms for treating mental conditions, but only under supervised settings. Apparently, survivors of traumas can greatly benefit from the medical use of psychedelic mushrooms. The District of Columbia has also made firm steps towards the legalization of magic mushrooms.

We should perhaps mention the fact that magic mushrooms are still illegal in mostly all 50 states. However, Mushroom spore kits are legal and are sold openly in stores or on the internet. Colorado and California have signed legislation in order to legalize the medical use of magic mushrooms, because they promote imagination, healing, spiritual connection, etc.
